For easy reviewing of the group rehearsal process these posts will be presented as paragraphs/bullet points under the titles: Attendance, What we planned, Result and My verdict
Attendance
- The bass player fell ill and notified us the night before.
- On the day the trains were delayed for our lead guitarist who also notified us as soon as he could.
- The producers did not show up at all despite them saying they could the night before and they gave no notice on the day and have not answered the questions as to why they weren't there.
- Drummer (myself), Rhythm Guitar, Backing and Lead Vocals were present and on time
What we planned
As it was our first rehearsal we planned to figure out a song and brainstorm ideas with it. We would also be able to set things to do in our own times so that we contribute to the band even if we aren't together.
Result
We decided on the song Sexual by Neiked as it worked best with the vocalists and all the musicians felt like it would sound great as a cover. There is an incredibly crisp bass line in the original which could sound incredible in other genres.
We decided to set ourselves the task of discovering a different version of the song each and bringing it to the next rehearsal so we can compare and come up with an ultimate idea. We also set the task of learning the original just so we have the foundations of the song to mess around with.
My verdict
Despite the lack of communication from the production students, I found this rehearse incredibly useful as we decided what were going to do and how we were going to approach it. I am looking forward to working closely with this band.
